Many of us in the gay community take COVID very seriously. Maybe it&#;s because we know and respect our history in the continued fight against the spread of HIV and AIDS. Then, of course, there are the other gays who would clearly rather die, than stay at home so we can stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Those gays recently flocked to Puerto Vallarta for Jeffrey Sanker&#;s COVID super-spreader New Year&#;s Eve event – and they were in for a few surprises. First, just a couple of days before the parties were slated to commence, Sanker himself was getting dragged on Twitter and denounced by PVN (Puerto Vallarta News) for throwing the event in the first place during a dangerous pandemic.

An anonymous Instagram account with the handle @gaysovercovid, which now boasts over , followers, has ignited what some are calling a "gay civil war" within the gay online society. The account has been posting videos, photos, and screenshots of chiseled queer men out partying as the coronavirus pandemic continues to claim lives.
While it was created in July of , it reached its highest peak of notoriety over the weekend when it covered male lover influencers, some of whom were also medical professionals, who had traveled to a large gathering in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
While many internet users celebrated what they saw as poetic justice via online shaming, others online criticized the account for using what they believe are inappropriate tactics.

In a typically bizarre end to a bizarre year, and a particularly ironic twist of fate, a group of gay New Year&#;s Eve party-goers on a cruise boat in Mexico &#; who were flouting COVID protocols recommending social distancing &#; saw their revelry come to a screeching halt as the ship they were on sank off the coast of Puerto Vallarta.

A gay party boat sank in the ocean waters of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico near 5 p.m. local time on New Year's Eve. Video footage shows the boat's passengers being rescued. Meanwhile, social media commenters have criticized Americans vacationing in the coastal town despite reports of local hospitals being near full capacity with COVID patients.
The boat, which belonged to the gay cruise company PV Delice Party Cruise, reportedly had 60 passengers on board and was headed endorse to shore when it began to sink.
