My name is Dave!
I am a gay, sober human living in Boston, Massachusetts. Being homosexual and sober hasn’t always been an easy journey.
The queer world is intertwined with drinking and drugging from the jump. As a youthful queer making my way into the gay scene, I was more than happy to dive in headfirst with drugs and alcohol.
It made me experience accepted and took the edge off being social in a room entire of people. I have always been anxious, and alcohol and drugs took that anxiety away and made me the life of the party.
After getting sober it was a whole fresh world.
I had to figure out how to be social and fun without drugs or alcohol. I am extremely fortunate that I have a fantastic support system of wonderful people who helped guide me through.
I was swept up by sober gays who had been sober for many years who showed me that we can still do anything and everything we did while using, sober.
They showed me that life only gets better after you decide to go away your addiction experience behind and include sobriety. I am so grateful to all those people in my society who

Types of AA Meetings
Closed: In Ohio, closed AA meetings are open to members only, including anyone searching help for an alcohol addiction. The discussions center on topics related to alcoholism and recovery and all participants are invited to contribute.
LGBTQ: Selected AA chapters focus on providing a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community, and generally welcome LGBTQ+ allies. These groups prioritize members’ recovery and sobriety within a non-heteronormative context.
Men: Pick AA chapters in Ohio are reserved only for men recovering from alcohol use disorder. These groups offer no-cost 12 Step Programs that facilitate the safe recovery of men of all ages.
Wheelchair Access: Wheelchair access in Ohio AA centers enable non-ambulatory clients to fully participate in group meetings. Features include exterior ramps, designated parking, and open floor plans for safe navigation.

Big Book: AA programs in Pennsylvania often feature the Big Manual in discussions. Clients find inspiration from the lives of true people who overcame alcohol apply disorder.
Discussion: AA discussion meetings in Pennsylvania are structured around a central topic related to alcoholism and recovery. After opening the meeting and sharing the topic, leaders may share briefly from a related AA text. Then, they’ll add their own insights and encourage others to participate in the conversation.

Our tackle to face in person gatherings create community and connections with people that otherwise feel isolated. We advocate for sobriety in the Southern Arizona LGBTQ Community.
