Thomas morton vice gay

As you sit down for turkey, corn, and arguments with relatives at Thanksgiving this year, take a moment to give thanks to Thomas Morton, who founded what could be considered America’s first lgbtq+ hippie colony in

Today, Merrymount is a silent neighborhood of Quincy, Massachusetts; residents explain that the name is an English translation of its authentic name, Passonagessit. But, protect their hearts, the fact may be more thrilling. According to historians and original records, the pilgrims founded an unusually lgbtq+ society—one that wasn&#;t straight-up accepting of all that queerness, per se, but had a more complicated relationship with it than you might think. In fact, as historians write down , the name &#;Merrymount&#; can also refer to a Latin phrase meaning “erect phallus”—quite a coincidence, given the men erected an foot pole in the center of town.

Though our modern understanding of sexuality would have been completely foreign to them, first European immigrants experienced homosexual attraction just as we do today, and they had queer sex, entered queer relationships, and formed q

VICELAND Goes to Bear Week in Provincetown: WATCH

We've spent a lot of age at Bear Week in Provincetown so it is amusing to see a new VICELAND (Vice's recent TV channel) segment on the annual rendezvous.

Calling it “a world of many contrasts,” reporter Thomas Morton (the hairless twink in the shot above) headed to Bear Week to dig down into the world of bear customs, find out about the lingo, and check out just what goes on in the pool at the Provincetown Inn.

Says Morton:

“The term bear once referred to a very specific type of gay male, particularly a big and hairy gay man. Take a walk on the wild side with Balls Deep

The SBS VICELAND Balls Deep series features in depth, investigative pieces on American subculture. Hosted by Thomas Morton, each episode is remembered for all the right reasons. And T-Girls, which examines trans-culture and persona is a trashy gem.

It begins in the night library where the studious Morton endeavours to find an academic tome, which will sum up the ins and outs of trans society, but all he finds is a s Californian Thoroughfare Patrol 'pamphlet&#x; on dealing with transexual and transgender people.

"The language is a little bit tough by today&#x;s standards Morton acknowledges.

Morton then forays into the Bronx where he meets two T-girls so sassy and street wise that you can almost hear the strains of one of the Lou Reed song, Walk On The Wild Side.

"Holly came from Miami F.L.A.

Hitch-hiked her way across the U.S.A.

Plucked her eyebrows on the way

Shaved her legs and then he was a she

She said, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side,

Said, hey honey, take a walk on the w

On behalf of VICELAND, VICE's new TV network, we are excited to share the first trailer for BALLS DEEP - a trademark new series hosted by Thomas Morton - which premieres on Wednesday, March 2nd at 11PM on VICELAND.

BALLS DEEP follows VICE producer and correspondent Thomas Morton as he perfects his version of immersive journalism, embedding himself into the lives of others to experience what being looks like from their point-of-view. Whether it's a Pentecostal preacher, a Muslim-American family, or same-sex attracted bears in Provincetown, Thomas absorbs every part of his counterparts' lives: their customs, philosophies, their habits and habitats. BALLS Dense is the most entertaining experiment in radical empathy ever involved to film (video actually).
