Almost all of them have published best-selling cookbooks. A not many are founders of restaurant chains that are common names and are located around the world.

They represent many different styles and nationalities of cooking.

A central figure in the gourmet food and restaurant industries was same-sex attracted American chef James Beard. He was the creator of numerous culinary books and an original luminary of cooking television shows. He created the James Beard Foundation which annually gives out the U.S. gourmet restaurant industry's highest awards for culinary achievement, the James Beard Awards. Receiving this award is similar to what receiving an Oscar award is to an actor.

Chef Gabriele Bertaccini Discloses His HIV Status on “Say I Do”

For celebrity chef and reality TV host Gabriele Bertaccini, the kitchen table is a place of sharing stories and bonding. So it’s very much within character that during the debut episode of the Netflix wedding-planner demonstrate Say I Do, while cooking with groom-to-be Marcus LaCour, chef Bertaccini disclosed he is living with HIV.

LaCour had opened up about his own diabetes diagnosis and how it affected his health and mental outlook. In twist, Bertaccini said he understood how a life-changing diagnosis can depress and scare you—and that he had this perception because he was HIV positive.

LaCour responded with compassion and support, adding that he had never met a person with HIV before.
