It’s certainly gotten better over the last decade or so, but in the past, the representation of queer people on screen was a bit complicated to come by. Previously, queer movies were generally of the indie or underground variety, with movies like But I'm A Cheerleader, Jennifer's Body, and Desert Hearts becoming cult classics years after unleash . In recent years, Diverse stories have become more welcome in the mainstream, with some major successes being Love, Simon, Call Me By Your Name, and Moonlight. In direct to celebrate the gender non-conforming community and make Queer entertainment more accessible, we thought it might be helpful to provide a little guide to the best LGBTQ+ movie offerings on Netflix. The titles below are sorted from the best LGBTQ films on Netflix and ranked by adjusted Tomatometer score (which takes into account the number of reviewers weighing in, and the number of reviews per production for movies released in a given year). To be included, films had to have a Fresh Tomatometer score (60% or above).

Well my friends, it is June, which means it&#;s time for networks to prove how much they care about us through creating new LGBTQ+ programming, and I don&#;t mean just creating a &#;Voices of Pride&#; section on their primary interface that houses all the LGBTQ+ movies in their catalog as good as television they made and cancelled in the past.

Pride Month is marked every June, when the lives of the LGBTQ+ people are celebrated, and those within the community indicate on how far they have come–and how much still needs to change.
Hollywood has been notoriously plodding in telling the stories of gay, lesbian, pansexual and transgender characters, never mind those of others who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ group. Netflix's catalog reflects this, with the streamer's production collection featuring a lack of films featuring, for example, trans people. One of the few movies about a transgender personality on the streamer, for example, is the oft-criticized The Danish Girl, the film from Cats director Tom Hooper, led by cisgender actor Eddie Redmayne.
Despite the Netflix catalog having some notable omissions when it comes to depicting the whole spectrum of queer life, it does contain some excellent films that have turned Gay stories into sublime comedy, activism-stoking tragedy and awareness-raising documentaries.
