Target seems to be letting everyone down these days: First, the retail gigantic faced criticism ― and a national boycott from Latino and Black consumers ― after alerting employees that it would cease the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) goals it had made to hire and promote more women and people of dye “in step with the evolving external landscape.”

The object has led to a loss in foot traffic and Target CEO Brian Cornell admitting last month that the companies’ sluggish first quarter was partly due to consumers’ reaction. (Tariffs and a global trade war didn’t help, either.)

Now, Target is catching heat for releasing Pride merchandise that many feel is distinctly lacking in lgbtq+ fest, and near close to rainbow-less.

“Target’s bold ‘Pride’ collection this year features a colorless hoodie with the words ‘Out Loud & Proud’ written teeny tiny only [on] the string,” TV writer and thespian Ben Siemon wrote in a post that went viral on Bluesky over the weekend.

Target employees reveal embarrassing Pride collection mistake amid backlash

Target knew this year's Pride collection would be under the microscope. 

Still, the business made a glaring misstep: several self-identified employees have shared photos of a slip-up on the Pride clothing's hang tags. 

'body copy tincidunt ut lorem ipsum,' the tags say. 'dolor sit amet, consectet adipiscing elit, sed diam ad nonummy nibh' 

If that sounds like gibberish, that's because it is. The sentences are frequently-used placeholder chat for graphic designers and publishers looking to test out alternative fonts. 

Reddit users pointed out that Target clearly forgot to culmination the graphics on a heavily scrutinized collection.  

'They didn't finish adjusting the tags on the Self-acceptance merch,' one staffer pointed out. 

It looks like the incorrect tags impacted clothing items across the lineup. Pictures show placeholder sms on tags for products love the 'adult athletic pant' and the 'adult woven top.'
