Christopher John:
LaCage has been a right landmark for gays in and out of Milwaukee. LaCage proposals several dance floors, a attractive updated upstairs and another prevent downstairs which offers another experience to this large nightclub!

I've been here more than a handful of times, and I can say ever since they changed the name endorse to La Cage, this place has never been better! I'd like to give some praise to Sami and Donovan for being some of the absolute best bar tenders I've ever come across!

'This Is It' is Milwaukee’s oldest queer bar
MILWAUKEE — Opened in , “This Is It” has the honor of being the longest continually operating queer bar in the Midwest. Founder June Brehm wanted a clean, welcoming, and affordable place where she and her queer friends could feel at home.
55 years later, the vision is continued by owners George Schneider and Trixie Mattel. At one time, Milwaukee had many gay bars, far fewer now, but “This Is It” has managed to thrive.

I met with George to learn about the rich history of the prevent.
“Historically, we were known as a gay bar, but I like to call it a queer space. What makes us unique is that we’ve hung on to some of the old elements of style and plan, like carpet on the walls and original stained glass light fixtures. It looks like you’re walking into grandpa's rec room," said George. “To possess that connection with the past, we’re a symbol of all the struggles of the past 50 to years, for the rights and freedoms that we have now. It’s a symbol for the lgbtq+ community and the community at grand. Because out of all of t

However, according to an article OnMilwaukee in , Kujawa originally opened the former 'Timers' lock in October , calling it "The General's" because friends gave her "The General" as a nickname. The article goes on:
"The first name, however, didn't work. It confused people and business started to slag. "Straights thought we were gay; gays consideration we were straight," says Kujawa. "I knew I was going after the boys. Most of them are educated, have cash, no kids and they like to drink," she says. "And after all, I'm in the heart of the gayborhood."
"She went on and researched the name of other queer bars Nothing jumped out at her, but she did notice a number of bars called "Dick's" and she got an idea. She decided to change the spelling to D.I.X. because of the correlation with Roman Numerals- DIX is in Roman numerals. Historically, Roman men often had male lov
